1. Overview
BenchRecall is a local-first public-beta hobby tracking application. This Privacy Policy covers benchrecall.com, app.benchrecall.com, support and feedback channels, and the optional cloud-assisted Supply Scan feature.
Most hobby records stay in the browser on the device where you use BenchRecall. Optional features such as Supply Scan, feedback forms, bug reports, and email support involve separate cloud services as described below.
2. Information Stored Locally
Projects, photos, progress entries, paint recipes, supplies, notes, next steps, settings, and related hobby records are normally stored in your browser on your device.
- BenchRecall does not currently provide automatic cross-device cloud synchronization.
- BenchRecall normally cannot inspect or recover your locally stored hobby records.
- Clearing browser storage, resetting the browser, uninstalling browser data, or losing the device may remove those records.
- You should export backups regularly. Backup files remain under your control.
Local-first storage does not mean information can never leave your device. Supply Scan and feedback or support submissions are optional cloud interactions covered separately below.
3. Supply Scan and Cloud Label Analysis
Taking or choosing a photo does not automatically send it for analysis. The selected image is sent only when you choose Analyze Label.
BenchRecall sends the selected image through a Netlify-hosted cloud function to OpenAI for label reading. The image is not added to your BenchRecall photo library. BenchRecall does not intentionally retain the image, its base64 request, or the raw cloud response as a saved supply record.
Scan suggestions are best-effort and editable. You must review every field before saving.
OpenAI API content is not used to train OpenAI models by default. OpenAI may retain API customer content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default. The BenchRecall request uses store: false and does not use background mode. These settings do not mean that no service provider retains any information.
4. Feedback, Bug Reports, and Support
When you submit feedback, a bug report, or an email to support, BenchRecall may receive:
- Your email address, when supplied
- Your message text
- Build, route, browser, device, severity, or diagnostic context submitted by the form
- Correspondence needed to respond
Netlify Forms and email providers may process and store these submissions. BenchRecall retains them only as reasonably necessary to respond, improve or protect the service, maintain appropriate records, or comply with law.
Please do not submit passwords, financial information, medical information, or other sensitive personal details.
5. Website and Usage Analytics
BenchRecall uses Plausible Analytics on benchrecall.com and app.benchrecall.com for aggregate usage measurement. Plausible is configured without advertising trackers, cookies, or persistent user identifiers.
Basic analytics may include page path, referring source, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type in aggregate reports.
BenchRecall uses ordinary pageviews plus only these eight fixed product-milestone event names inside the app:
- First Project Created
- First Progress Added
- Resume After 2–6 Days
- Resume After 7–29 Days
- Resume After 30+ Days
- Supply Scan Review Opened
- Supply Saved From Scan
- Feedback Sent
No custom properties are attached to these milestone events. Private hobby content is not included in event names or properties.
BenchRecall does not send project names or IDs, progress text, notes, next steps, photos, filenames, recipes, supply names, brands, barcodes, label text, character details, exact deadlines, feedback text, bug-report text, tester names, emails, contact information, invite codes, raw errors, or API responses as analytics event data.
Automatic outbound-link, file-download, and form-submission measurements are not enabled. Plausible processes analytics information under its own service terms and data practices.
6. Hosting and Service Providers
BenchRecall currently relies on these categories of providers:
- Netlify for website hosting, Functions, and Forms
- OpenAI for optional Supply Scan label analysis
- Google and hosted email providers for support communication
These providers process information under their own service terms and data practices and may retain information as part of operating their services.
7. Data Choices and Requests
You can delete local records through the application, clear browser storage with the understanding that doing so can remove local data, export a backup, and delete backup files you control.
You may contact support@benchrecall.com about feedback, support correspondence, or deletion requests for information BenchRecall actually received. BenchRecall cannot delete local browser data it cannot access.
8. Security
BenchRecall uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the current public-beta service. These include HTTPS, server-side environment variables for secrets, data minimization, and local-first storage.
No system is completely secure, and locally stored information can still be lost. Regular backups remain important.
9. Children’s Privacy
BenchRecall is not directed to children under 13, and BenchRecall does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Policy Changes
This policy may change as BenchRecall develops. When it changes, the “Last updated” date will be revised. Material changes to data practices should be communicated clearly.
